Weather
The benefit Clearwater has over much of what Floirdians experience weather-wise has everything to do with having the Gulf of Mexico at her feet.
In winter, the warmer Gulf waters act as a buffer - nighttime and morning fog act like a blanket and make the temps warmer than inland areas - even a few miles makes a big difference.
In summer, the convection of hot air inland draws cooler air off the Gulf with the added benefit of a nice breeze. This is a daily occurrance and is as welcome as it is predictable.
The best time to visit, comes just after the winter crowds leave - April and May. And also late October and early November - you'll have much of the beach to yourself and great ocean and air temps.
Summer is a bit out of kilter from what the calendar says. Summer in Clearwater is HOT and HUMID. The months where it is the most intense is August AND September - sometimes into the middle of October. While the thermometer may say 92, with the humidity, your sweat doesn't evaporate and you feel sticky.
Tha't's why you don't see too many people outside durintg the day in September.
Hurricane Season is also at full speed in September
