Belleview Biltmore

After more than a century has passed since its birth, Belleview Biltmore still continues to inspire awe (perhaps even more than before). The older this vintage structure grows, more valued it becomes to the Bellair community where it is located as well as to the incoming travelers.

For years, Belleview Biltmore Golf Spa and Resort has been offering a just-right mixture of essence of the past and comforts of modern amenities. What makes it unique from several other brand-name resorts in the area is its historical element - a history so beautifully dated and worth-cherishing that it has pulled elite crowds as well as average individuals from distant places.

"Legend," "luxury," "elegance" and "prominence" are words associated with this place. Built in the year 1897 by railroad tycoon Henry B. Plant, this hotel has been a temporary home to some of the royal families, heads of state, movie stars and famous athletes. Belleview still does the same what it did years ago - offering Southern hospitality and unmatched elegance to its guests. In early 1900's, when Belleview Resort's wood exterior was painted bright white and green, it became the "White Queen of the Gulf." It still gives the same picture and can be easily associated with the title. The resort later closed its doors to the guests during the Great Depression. Later, it was used by the military during World War II.

This distinct gem of Clearwater has withstood many threats of demolition. All credit to the Bellair community and people from all over Tampa Bay region, Belleview still stands tall in its grandeur. Having witnessed so much in past several decades, no wonder this place was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. If you would like a closer and more in-depth look at the history here, the resort offers daily historical tours which are open to both guests and general public.

When you stay here, you will find the historic feel in every room. Not because the rooms are filthy old, but because the way they are beautifully set up and the era that they belong to. There are 246 spacious guestrooms available at this resort. Many rooms come with a pool view or a private balcony. Each guest unit features complimentary internet access, cable television, phone, full bath, walk-in closet, housekeeping and several other common amenities.

Belleview Biltmore is like a self-sufficient community in itself. When you are here, you will have so much to do on your hands that you will probably seldom think of going distant places for entertainment. An awesome spa, not one but several onsite pools, tennis courts, golf course and so on - with all these things available to you as guests of Belleview Biltmore, it is very unlikely that you will ever have a dull moment.

This resort sits on 22 acres of land and extends far, far from where your eyes witness it. This huge property has huge things on site in store for you. Swing some shots at the resort's beautiful golf course, designed in 1925 by world famous golf architect Donald Ross. The course was restored to its original charm by Chip Powell in 2001 and still offers intriguing golf experiences on its beautiful greens. You can also try your hand at a game of tennis. Pro help is available at Belleview Biltmore's four red clay surfaced courts. Bicycle rentals are also available at the resort in case you are in mood to explore the Pinellas Trail on two wheels.

When golf and tennis has exhausted you enough, you can take the advantage of Belleview on site refreshing spa. Choose from some interesting massage packages and soak yourself at their European spa pool for that extreme rejuvenation feel. There is a workout place located within the spa as well. If you have had enough of the overcrowded pools, you will be glad to find that Belleview has not one but several indoor and outdoor pools. Towels will be provided to you at the pool areas.

Since you will be so close to the Gulf, it would be a misdeed if you do not experience the striking beach views. You would not have to go far for that experience. Belleview has a private gulf front beach club on Sand Key. You will find a beachfront pool, several lounges, lockers and changing facilities for your convenience here. Drinks and light snacks are also served at the club. You can use the resort's shuttle to the Beach Club; the shuttle leaves every hour.

You ask: where should I head for a nice, delectable meal? The answer is: nowhere far. Belleview has several restaurants on the property offering award-winning cuisines.

For your meeting and social event needs, the property has three ballrooms, nine meeting rooms and separate cottage along with a business center. If you would like to make your wedding day be associated with 1800s history, people at Belleview can help you organize a spectacular event at their historic Tiffany Ballroom.

This beautiful vintage resort will soon be closing its door to the visitors in 2009 as it plans to undergo a large-scale restoration to revive the historic charm.
