Bon Appetit Restaurant
It's like a little, local European diner sitting on the coasts of beautiful downtown Dunedin. Bon Appetit has pleased many hearts since its birth in 1976, and it continues to do so now, even after more than three decades.
The restaurant's interior is nothing contemporary or stylish, but it still makes up for a special experience for the restaurant's visitors. Large glass windows, almost all around the restaurant, are going to be an integral part of this place till the time of its existence. Feasting on some great dishes created by award-winning Chef Karl, you can enjoy sunset views from these huge glass fixtures.
Bon Appetit also has the provision of outdoor seating from where you can spot sea birds or turtles out in the bay. Even dolphins jumping in and out of water can be usually sighted from this enclosed terrace overlooking the marina and docks. Honeymoon Island State Park and the number 1 beach of America, Caladesi Island, can also be seen from here. With such views, sipping a glass of champagne and trying some of the nicest appetizers ought to set you in the mood for a romantic day out.
But don't let the romance of the charming views give you a wrong impression. Bon Appetit is as much of a family restaurant as it is for loving couples or new dates. It is a popular joint for family get-togethers, birthdays, business lunches, bridal showers, and anything else people like to celebrate. Its exquisite menu and friendly staff has the ability to make any event even more special.
Bon Appetit is not restricted to a single cuisine as Chef Karl gets creative in his kitchen putting out the best of Continental, American, European and Seafood fare. Starters, entrees and desserts - you will be pleased by all. Try Chef's house salad made up of field greens, olives, sunflower seeds toppings and a delicious sweet and sour dressing.
A la carte items as well as three course meals are a part of Bon Appetit's daily menu. Try their rack of lamb served in a pecan crust and you will crave for more. To the frequent visitors, restaurant's chicken with a sweet pecan butter sauce is also a delight. Their Gulf Shrimp served with artichokes, mushrooms and New Orleans spice is a delight and so is their classic Chicken Marsala. If you want to get your taste buds to try a bit of everything, order a Seafood Sampler for $12.95, and indulge in shrimp, smoked trout, smoked salmon and mussels with picked ginger and egg.
End it all with your choice of dessert - chocolate mousse or Viennese raspberry pudding. Bon Appetit's prices are on a high-average side. When you ask for the check, you will realize it was all worth it. Panoramic views, good food and some live entertainment by Kathy Roberts, a popular local lounge singer and piano player, make up for the prices.
Reservations are preferred but not required at this restaurant. Since the restaurant shares its parking with the neighboring Yacht Harbor Inn, its complimentary valet service is a life-saver. Bon Appetit is open for lunch and dinner daily from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, Monday through Saturday and from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday.
